Due to concerns on pricing, We have changed the location to Warped Paintball, our location in previous years. Over the past year they have added new maps, so you won't be playing the same map twice. The games will also feature a variety of objectives, around scenario based games instead of the usual capture the flag... but that's for you to find out.

Enjoyment of your days paintball is second only to the safety of you and your group. All players are issued with approved face and head protection and all players receive a full game and safety briefing prior to going out to play. All games are staffed and supervised by a team of experienced marshals with emphasis being on safety, fair play and fun!

We expect teams of 16 ( 12 players/ 4 reserves) people each at £30 per head.

Additional information:
Each team is allowed 3 imports (Bruneian on otherwise). You are able to use your own markers if you comply by the chronograph of 280fps, you are also allowed to use your own air tanks if they are UK legal. Each team will have 10,000 pellets.

The event you have all been waiting for is finally here! In conjunction with our 28th National Day, we invite you to the annual BBSS Paintball Tournament!

This year we've got a new location. World famous National Paintball Fields; It is a 200 acre movie themed action adventure park and is the UK's best paintball site! The games will also feature a variety of objectives instead of the usual capture the flag... but that's for you to find out.

Enjoyment of your days paintball is second only to the safety of you and your group. All players are issued with the very latest approved face and head protection and all players receive a full game and safety briefing prior to going out to play. Paintball guns are regularly calibrated so the highest fire rate is 260fps. All games are fully staffed and supervised by a team of experienced marshals with emphasis being on safety, fair play and fun!

Inter Society Sports Meet in London

The Sports Sec from Imperial College had cordially invited Bruneian Societies for a friendly sports meet located in Westway Centre, London. The societies that attended were BruLeics from Leicester, Bruwick from Warwick, two teams from London, UCL and Imperial College and of course, BruBirmingham.

Birmingham had an issue of not having enough teammates due to workloads, assignments, deadlines, etc. Luckily, we managed to find other Bruneians who were willing to play for BruBirmingham team.

This blog hasn't been updated for quite sometime now but Insyallah you can expect more updates from us throughout the next year.

Perhaps we should start by updating everyone of our new elected committee, as chosen by our previous BBSS committee 2010/2011 and fellow Bibers in our last Easter Barbeque! Our new committee members are as follows;

As we like to remind our fellow BBSS members, we are always here to help all of you and provide support wherever needed. Everyone is invited to contribute and express their thoughts and ideas into the society. We're a team guys!

Annually we hold an ice-breaking session where we get all our new juniors to meet everyone else in the society, just so that they can familiarize themselves with our other members, get past those awkward smiles and shrugs and hopefully have a great time while doing so!

Aston Business School Pulse 2011

Aston University, Birmingham: 3rd to 8th April 2011

The Aston Business School played host to Pulse 2011, a cultural and sports event which aimed to promote socialising and networking amongst its postgraduate students.

The event saw the participation of three BiBers who are themselves students of the School: Naqiya 'Q' Abdullah who competed in the Badminton Tournament; Fadhli 'Fadlan' who participated in the Chess Games; and Memet Mohiddin who sang off in the singing competition.

The five-day-long event ended with the Cultural Ball Night, in which other BiBers came to join in the fun as well as to act as supporters for our very own Ka Memet, who made it to the finals in the singing competition against other international students, and who was also eventually named as the winning Champion! CONGRATULATIONS!

The 952s (Erman, Ramzi, Umi, Amir, Melo & Roffy) melagau the rest of the BiBers over for a Yaasin & Doa Tahlil gathering, followed by Doa Selamat cos Chef Gordon Ramzi punya birthday was a few days before. Menu of the night was Nasi Katok featuring sambal paling padas di dunia.

To quote the Chef, "...ani mana berapa padas ni, 17 buting cili padi ganya bepakai."

Highlight of the night's menu was, of course, aing/jus/segala macam minuman! kekeke. thanks 952s! alhamdulillah, kanyang tiga hari.

The white flakes of joy (or nuisance, depends how you look at it) came pouring down on Birmingham quite heavily during the first few days of December. As always, most of the Bruneians here dared to brave the cold and of course, play in the white slush, a much needed retreat from the heavy daily demands of the academic life.

Pershore residents, as it has usually been in the past few years, only need to go through the cul-de-sac popularly known as First Avenue, in the vicinity of Cannon Hill Park to enjoy the snow while it lasted. Snowmen are a definite must, aside from the snowangels on the ground and the usual battle of snowballs.

BBSS celebrated the Hari Raya Aidiladha with group Takbir recitations: the BiBers who resided in Selly Oak celebrated the occasion at the Langleys' home. Meanwhile, a separate function was also held for the Selly Park/Pershore residents, which was hosted by the 704s (Saiful, Tony, Kimin, Fadhli & Razan). It was aimed to foster closer bonds amongst the Bruneians, and more importantly to make the BiBers feel at home with the recitations of the Takbir verses as it has been traditionally carried out back home in Brunei.

BSU's provision of the Takbir verses on their website proved very helpful indeed

The Langleys ladies (Ka Memet, Sarah, Rozailah, Amal & Dyana) hosted a housewarming gathering at their home in Langleys' Road. It was also a Sembahyang Berjemaah & Doa Selamat event to celebrate Rozailah's birthday, followed by a surprise for two unsuspecting birthday boys (hint: who's got more or less similar names). It was obvious that they put a lot of effort into making their event a success, judging by the varieties of food they prepared for the BiBers and how spick and span the condition of the house was. Kudos!

Fireworks @ The Vale

University of Birmingham, 4th November 2011:

Remember, remember, the 5th of November (well...the 4th lahhh)

As it has been in the past few years, most of the BiBers once again got together to join the fun and witness the spectacular fireworks show at The Vale, University of Birmingham. (basically it's been an informal tradition for us....most braved walking for about 30/40 minutes in the drizzle all the way from Pershore Road to the Vale Village...it was THAT worth it =))

The event is held annually as a tribute by the UoB's Guild of Students to celebrate Guy Fawkes' Night / Bonfire Night. Aside from the magnificent 30-minute display of fireworks, there was also a carnival held at the same location, which included some carnival rides as well as stalls that showcased a variety of fun and games for all. Best food of the night? Possibly the Toffee Apple! =D

The BBSS Ice-breaking session was held on 29th October 2010 to officially welcome the new Bruneians in Birmingham (BiBers) for the new academic year 2010/11. It was a great opportunity for everyone to mingle around and to get to know the other BiBers. As the beginning of more society gatherings to follow in the future, hopefully this event has managed to initiate the fostering of close bonds amongst the Bruneian community in Birmingham.

The Birmingham Marathon

24th October 2010:

Pershore Road was abuzz with excitement early in the morning as it was chosen as one of the routes for the Birmingham Marathon. No, there weren't any Bruneians who took part in the run, however most of the Pershore residents were woken up by the crowds of people of all ages running outside. Kami the 704s (plus Arif the PRITO) meliat saja, just to witness all the hoo-haahs outside that woke most of us up early, and some actually did act as unofficial papparazzis for the event too hehe. It was a great sight to see nonetheless, especially knowing that other fellow Bruneian neighbours (the 688 and 752 ladies) were there to witness the event live too.

Starcity and Nandos

Some of the BiBers went for an outing to Starcity, the only place in Birmingham which has a Halal Nandos. It was rather an informal meet-and-greet session, because some of those who showed up were new to Birmingham, some having just arrived a few days before. It was an opportunity for each to get to know the others, what better way to do it than over dinner, at Nando's, home of perhaps the best peri-peri chicken (and carrot cake)! =D

And there was some sort of a small carnival going on in the parking lot at StarCity as well! Went on this ride shown in the background along with Sarah, Ka Met, Jilah, Razan. Definitely not a good idea to go on it after a heavy meal at Nando's! Fortunately everyone managed to pull through (without depositing anything whilst up high in the air being swung from side to side on the ride hehe). Epic night, and a great way to meet everyone else!

Assalamualaikum,

Syukur Alhamdulillah, the BBSS Easter BBQ event was a success (as usual coz we're awesome!). I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the organisers for their hard work as well as the past BBSS committee (08/09)!

The event started at about 3pm. We had games to fill in the day which includes creating your own lyrics to a familiar song e.g. don't cha by Pussycat Dolls, tying a balloon on your ankle and you have to step on your opponents', blind pentagon and the list goes on. The most interesting rule in this game was we were allowed to steal easter eggs won by other teams during the game. The Bibers were divided into 3 groups (8-7-7) where Group 1 had collected the most easter eggs and won the game! Congratulations to the ‘Kicap’ team. Group 3 was the 1st runner up- yes, they played by the 'rules'. And, Group 2 was the 2nd runner up. Congratulations to all!

Recently, I met an International Officer from UoB who is interested to find out more on Bruneian students studying in the University of Birmingham. In terms of a student profile this is normally when we ask you a set of questions and then we use your replies in a short write up about your experience at the University of Birmingham. We put this on our website or in our postgraduate brochures. So we only do this if you have agreed and signed a permission form for us to use this information.

We also like to put a photo of you next to your profile so we can put this on the website. If you prefer you can send us a photo or we can arrange for you to have it taken.

BBSS Committee Elections for 2009/2010

The current BBSS committee and final year students have discussed and shortlisted the nominees for this year's committee election. Please vote through these polls for who you think should take up the following positions.

Voting closes on Monday 13th April 2009 at 10pm. All votes are anonymous and in fairness, voters can only vote once. Nominees may feel free to vote for themselves if they wish to do so. Votes are only open to members of BBSS i.e. Bruneian students currently studying in Birmingham.

President and Vice-President
• Lead the Brunei Birmingham Student Society
• Responsible for the overall management of the society
• Welcomes and assists new members and updates the list of members
• Represents BBSS at any events held at other societies whether at a formal or informal level
• Encourages members to participate in events, organising and contributing towards the society

Finance Officer
• Manages the financial aspects of the society
• Produce and update committee members of the financial issues from time to time.

Religious Officer
• Responsible for the religious activities in the society.

Public Relations and IT Officer
• Developing and maintaining good working relations with other Brunei student societies, as well as informing other Brunei student societies of upcoming BBSS events.
• Responsible for running the BBSS website. Maintaining and updating any information, current news and events of the society, as well as other related Brunei students societies events on the net.
• Informing and inviting BBSS members to its society events.

Sports Officer
• Responsible for the running of the society’s sport activities at any level, either internally or externally.

• Manages and organize any society events.
• Initiating and planning BBSS events, trips and gathering activities.

Alhamdulillah, the term is coming to an end and the official start of our easter holiday is tomorrow. For all of us, the coming holiday is our time to get cracking on revising for the final exams. To release the pre-exam stress, BBSS has plan(s) for the upcoming weeks.

Next event would be our annual BBSS BBQ gathering - the date to be confirmed (but make yourself available during the last 2 weeks of April). More details about the event will be posted some other time.

BruNotts Easter Games committee are now taking in registrations for volunteers for the event. For those interested in volunteering for the day, registration is on a first come first serve basis, so sign up quick if you want to volunteer. Some perks that come with being a volunteer are getting an official B.E.G. t-shirt, B.E.G merchandise as well as attending an appreciation lunch with the B.E.G. committee.

BruKeele's Race Back to 1984

Here is a message from BruKeele Society's President regarding a brand new event they are organising in conjunction with Brunei's National Day. Let any of the BBSS committee members know if you have any queries regarding the event, or if you are interested in joining!

BruKeele is a newly established society in the UK representing Bruneian students in Keele. In conjunction with Brunei Darussalam's National Day, our society is organising an event called BruKeele's Race Back to 1984 to celebrate our national day at the same time promote our newly established society. Thus we are inviting other societies in the UK to come and celebrate with us and we would be grateful if your society can send a minimum of one team to our event, which will be held in our Keele University campus. It would also be helpful if you can help to spread the word around since we are new and have very limited contact.

Brukeele’s Race Back to 1984

Venue: Keele University, Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire, ST5 5DY, UK.
Date: Saturday, 14th March 2009.
Time: 9.30 am- 5 pm.
Admission fee: £8 per member. (4 members per team = £32)

*Take note that there will only be a maximum of 10 teams to participate on a first-come, first-served basis.

Deadline for registration and payment of fee: Saturday, 7th March 2009.

*Please note that team will only confirmed a spot in the race after all 4 members of the team full .

Race description: It is a race modeled after “The Amazing Race” where all 'teams' begin at the starting line and the winner will be the 'team' that first crosses the finishing line. In between races, there will be clues and challenges, which will be questions related Brunei Darussalam's National Day and Keele University. The rules and regulations of the race will be explained thoroughly on the day itself prior to the race.

There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place while certificates will be given to all participants. There is also a ‘best dressed’ competition where teams are encouraged (but is not necessary) to dress up uniquely to personalise their own ‘team identity’.

*There is also a facebook page called ‘BruKeele’s Race Back to 1984’ where you can confirm your attendance and to visit for more information. This event is open to all Bruneians and you are free to attend for moral support for friends who are joining the race.

Hello BiBers,

With the MAD Paintball done and over with, I would like to take this time and space to thank everyone as without your support and help the event would not be as successful. First up goes to all BBSS members who supported and helped in the organization of MDP 2k9 all the way from the initial start up to the food preparations and finally to cleaning up after the event ended. Given the small amount of time to prepare, it wouldn't have been possible without you guys. Big cheers to Akmal and Nisa for organizing the Brum Ultimatum/Supremacy teams and their transport.

More thank you's to Unit Penuntut - Penuntut (especially Cikgu Dollah) for the support and quick response to aid the organization in their busy time and also to Brunei Student Union officers (Huda Ramli and Hazirin) for helping me in the advertising the event to students all over the UK. Last but not least, special thank you to the team captains and participants for your commitment and desire to play which makes this year's event a very exciting one.

Congrats to Kaizoku for being Champion 2nd year running and to newcomers Sheffield Siege for earning the 2nd spot. Trash talk aside, a very deserved 3rd place to one of the organizing committee's team; Brum Supremacy which was led by Masdoni and Alif. Beyond any doubt, all teams showed resilience and skill despite some having new players in the squad.

Final result:With that said, I do hope I have thanked everyone. If I didn't I do apologise, but do know I appreciate every effort put into the event - directly or indirectly.

Therefore, ladies and gentlemen of BBSS, we have MDP as our annual event. Watch out because from here on its going to get better and better.

Alhamdulillah the BBSS Winter Intra-Society Badminton Tournament went on well.I hope the outcome of this event had well benefit us both individually and as a society,in one way or another.

Assalamualaikum and greetings to all,

Firstly, alhamdulillah and well done to all the participants for being able to pull this off -- for your strong competitive spirit and cooperation. You guys did a great job be it during the games and between the games. Credits to Shuhir and Razan for organizing the tournament. After all, we had fun :)

RESULTS:

Men's Doubles:

gold: the duo, Akmal/Saiful could light a fire without a match as they conquered all the matches and beat all their opponents hands down. They won by winning all the matches. sapu semua~silver: the postgrad pair, Abu/Uncle Azmi won 3 out of 4 matches.bronze: the Hanif/Tony pair won 2 out of 4 matches.Women's Doubles:

gold: the same happened to the female duo, Diyana/Shuhir who dominated the female doubles. They won all their matches against their opponents. silver: the pair Yani/Hanis bronze: the pair Nisa/FadzMixed Doubles:

grabbing for bronze medals were the pair of Azrul/Nisa vs Kash/Shuhir. Unfortunately, Azrul/Nisa were not able to overpower Kash/Shuhir and lost their chance to win a third place.

Results: Kash/Shuhir vs Azrul/Nisa : 21-10, 21-8

Shuhir/Kash: the bronze medalist

grabbing for gold were the pair of Hanif/Yani and Abu/Diyana. The chelsea duo, Abu/Diyana dominated both sets which led them to gold but Hanif/Yani did pull an interesting competitive match. A big round of applause for both pairs.

the tournament is sadly over but it's definitely not the time to hang the racket up. Badminton Minggu Ini (BMI) will commence as usual, time and place will be updated from time to time. Let's hope from this tournament we have gained more experience and be more ready to join/organize more tournament next time.

New Style Dancing Class

For teams interested in entering, the format is basically 12 players on the field and 4 reserve players and the entry fee is GBP 480 per team regardless number of players.

Notes from the organizer:

- Generally, you will be provided with Tippman 98 (NOT Ions) but Warped Paintball have high-end markers up for rent at GBP 25 for the whole day. Details on how to book and rent will be sent out through e-mail via team captains and society e-mail address.

- Each team will be provided 10,000 paints.

- Lastly and most importantly, we are looking into having a mass battle (maybe 50 vs 50players) at the end of the day. Hosts do require a little extra payment which will be confirmed soon (about GBP 5 per person). Do drop your opinion on this.

The host only have a limited number of high-end markers, so book with me fast (the usual first-come-first-served) and payment deadline for the marker rental is on the 28th January 2009. Also, the hosts agreed to set up a mass battle but may charge an extra amount (about GBP 5 - which they have to look into) and registration to participate is required as well. Therefore, for those interested, do register now and I will return with the exact amount ASAP.

6 girls and 10 boys are joining this tournament which will be held at Aston University Sport Centre(specific location tbc) on the 31st of January,from 11am-3pm.

The date for this event will depend on those who are interested in participating and those who are interested to WATCH,as we want to have maximum number of entries and audience as well.
It will be a one day event only.

We invite Bruneian postgraduate students (Masters, PhD) from any discipline to submit abstracts on any aspect of how their previous, current, or future research would contribute to any aspect of Brunei Darussalam's development. Any submissions which respond to this are welcome, and the main issues you may wish to consider include (but are not limited to):

1. Own research topics, and how they involve/are relevant to Brunei

2. Past, present, or future research activities: research experiences and challenges faced/foreseen when planning, conducting and disseminating research on, in or about Brunei

3. Contributions of specialist fields of research (even if research does not involve Brunei)

4. Interdisciplinary interests, how one proposes to pursue them

5. Choices not to base research on Brunei, and why - insufficient data, challenges, etc.

6. The importance of research in a particular field

7. How research facilitates development, change and movement forward in the sectors of Research, Education, Services, Policy, Science and Technology, Socio-Economics, Environment, Human Resource Development, or other.

This one-day symposium aims to facilitate discussions between Bruneian postgraduate students from all academic disciplines and allow them to share their research and research experiences and how they feel it will contribute to Brunei's development. It also aims to form ties of camaraderie between students, which will provide a support system during and after postgraduate study. We look forward to a diverse range of responses to these themes.

It does not matter if you do not have a fixed or specific research thesis, or if your current research is not based specifically on Brunei. We are more interested in your ideas of how the skills you are accumulating or any potential future research topics will be useful or relevant to Brunei.

Please send abstracts of 250-300 words for proposed presentations of 10-15 minutes to the Scientific Committee at brupostgrad09@googlemail.com by Wednesday, 31st December.

Venue: Westway Sports Centre, London

Football: A maximum of 8 players & a minimum of 6 players for each team. Only the first 20 teams will be accepted.

Netball: A maximum of 10 players & minimum of 8 players for each team. Only the first 10 teams will be accepted.

Entrance fee is 50 pounds per team, for both football and netball. All participants must strictly be of Bruneian Nationality. No import players will be allowed.

We are happy to inform you all that tickets for the BSUnion Hari Raya Aidil Fitri Celebration 1429H/2008M will be out for sale starting this Friday 10th October 2008 after 7pm to Bruneian students only*.

The event will be held on Sunday, 19th October 2008 at The Ballroom, The Dorchester, London as displayed on the eflyer above. Arrivals begin at 9.00am and doors will close at9.45am. The attire will be traditional/smart.

This year the price of one ticket will be as follows;

Bruneian Students - GBP 15.00, All others - GBP 26.00

The tickets will be sold on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis. No bookings are allowed and up to three tickets may be purchased by one person. The BSUnion has set up a number of tickets centre throughout the country to enable everyone to get the tickets nearest to their location.

Several BiBers took part in the LufBru Summer Games held at the UBD Sports Centre last weekend. Congratulations to Mallie for getting 2nd place in the Men's Singles for Badminton. Also an applause to Saifullah and his teammate Aziman from Belfast who won 3rd place in the Men's Doubles for Badminton.

Honourable mention goes to Razan who participated in the Women's Singles Badminton as well as the Women's Doubles Badminton with her partner WaniE from Nottingham. Meanwhile Tony and Afwi (from Brunel) competed in the Men's Doubles Badminton.

To sum up, they want any student societies that are interested to help make a 10 minute presentation on our society during the orientation day. This is an exciting way to promote our society and places of study. If anyone has ideas, please feel free to drop comments on this post (chatbox is way too limited). I'd be happy to step up unless there are last minute plans that are unavoidable. Anyone want to join in? I'd suggest about three of us, the President (Tony) and Welfare Officer (Hjh Diyana) should make a good representation of the society. Graduates are also welcome to share their experiences. Those were only my suggestions though; if there is anyone else who wants to offer their insight please feel free to step up. Society members, you are encouraged to include a lil something about your activities and objectives. yknow promote lah sikit. hehe.

I know a few of you have replied to my last email sudah and im sorry to say that we still haven't got a confirmed date and the exact number figure of the expected students yet. From previous years, the orientation usually starts around the time of late August or early September.

So there's no harm in preparing in advance right? Here's what you gotta do:
Prepare a 10 minute speech or possibly, powerpoint presentation with colourful animated pictures (hehe!). The speech should contain a brief explanation on how student life is at your respective places - accomodation, public transports, where to get halal food, shopping life, sightseeing/night life, etc.. Also, get ready with your FAQs. We're hoping to see new enthusiastic undergrads!

Let me know if you're interested, and i'll put your names down. And yes i promise i will come back with more details next time :D Till then, have a super awesome vacation!! =D

Lots of changes have happened in Brum and met lots of people..and honestly, this year has been the liveliest so far.. We've done lots of things togeder-geder as a group. Attending formal and informal events and joining activities macam itu ini lah pokoknya, like this like that..eh lame eh. Okay..like Hari Raya, Paintball, Jemaah, Sport Events and Ziarah just to name a few..all this contribute to the cohesiveness of this society. I know you can do more malatop next year! I wish you BiBers all the best in everything you do..

I also hope there will be a significant number of people coming to Birmingham next academic year..the more, the merrier? No? Yes?

Congratulations to Mallie for winning the 3rd place at BruManch Badminton Open held today at Manchester. He plays double with Yazid from Manchester.

To Razan for her participation in the tournament as well, no worries next year cuba lagi.

While they were in Manchester,the rest of us went to Nandos for a farewell gathering for Ka PP whom will be going back to Brunei in the next few weeks. Best of luck goes to you and have a safe journey back home.

BBSS 08/09 Committee election results

As I mentioned in the previous post, besides the BBQ and treasure hunt, the election results for the 08/09 BBSS Committee was announced. And here they are!:

I'd end this post with our awesome motto but unfortunately we don't have one at the moment, so I guess we can settle with our president's very own lame original: "Win some, lose some, because we're awesome".

BBSS Easter BBQ '08

Hello everyone, now I've never posted on the BBSS website before but I guess you'll be seeing more of my name and writing here from now on ;) Anyway, here's a review of the Easter BBQ organised by the members of BBSS. Credits to Nisa for the photos.

The event was scheduled at 3pm at Windrush Grove's backyard, but due to the heavy hail which kept coming and going, most of us arrived at the venue past the scheduled time. But that didn't dampen our spirits, although the sun came and went, the sky was a beautiful spring blue. The boys set up the BBQ things while some girls helped in the kitchen, aided to their hunger and succumbed to their vanity. We also had guests from Loughbourough, Taufiq (our official busybody) and Muizz (who really should move here).

Among the foods in the menu for the BBQ were chicken wings and sausages (specially marinated by the boyband and their posse), tuna sandwiches (prepared by the 752 girls, Jajan, Hanis and Shuhir), Wani's infamous Banoffee Pie, Saiful's cornflakes, Krispy Kreme donuts and a variety of fruits.

The highlight of the BBQ event was the Treasure Hunt organised by Nisa, Wani, Hanis and Shuhir. It was an enjoyable and entertaining game and the prizes were great too- chocolates! Everyone was divided into three teams and each team were given tasks to complete. It was a very creative game, implementing both brains and brawn. The 'indoor' treasure hunt was definitely something new XD. The eventual winners were Group 3, with Group2 and Group 1 at 2nd and 3rd place respectively. "Semua pemenang, tiada pengalah."

Soon after, it started to get dark so we cleaned up, especially the living room which was in a really bad state (Sorry!). Later on in the evening, the 2008/2009 BBSS Committee election results went on a roll. Now ex-president and ex-vice president Saiful and Nisa said their 'final words' before announcing the verdict. I'll touch more on this in the next post, but let me say congratulations to those who have been elected and may I say on behalf of myself and members of the 08/09 committee, thank you for voting for us =) We will try our best.

The night dragged on with everyone mingling and basically having a good time. There were people who opened their little massage parlour, chillaxed with puffs of shisha, and others who became the vacuums of the night finishing off what was left of the food. We also showed off our talent while singing along to acoustic guitar melodies played by Azrul, Tony and myself. Soon it was time to call it a night, even though I bet we all didn't want it to end.

A big congratulations to the main organiser, Nisa, for making this event a success, to every member of BBSS who was there that day as well as to our guests Taufiq and Muizz for their helping hands. It was a great weekend indeed.

Alhamdulillah.

First of all, thanks to Sukri for sponsoring the foods, to the chefs and to the host.

We were missing quite a few BiBers, thanks to those who came. Sembahyang Taubat and Hajat were performed after Maghrib Prayer. Mudah-mudahan doa kitani dimakbulkan Allah. Amin~

After makan-makan, tibalah masa untuk voting process for the new BBSS Committee 08/09. So kamu yang men-vote tadi atu, puas hati dengan nominees yang telah di shortlistedkan? kalau inda puas hati bekayuh kamu sendiri~ (lol). So who will be the next President of BBSS? Keputusan undian akan dimaklumkan pada hari Sabtu ini semasa BBQ gathering.

Elections 08/09: Positions & Responsibility

Here are the list of Positions & Responsibility available in the upcoming elections:

President and Vice-President
• Lead the BBSS Society
• Responsible for the overall management of the society
• Welcomes and assists new members and updates the list of members
• Represents BBSS at any events held at other societies whether at a formal or informal level
• Encourages members to participate in events, organising and contributing towards the society

Treasurer
• Manages the financial aspects of the society
• Produce and update committee members of the financial issues from time to time.

Religious Officer
• Responsible for the religious activities in the society.

Social and Welfare Officer
• Responsible for the well-being of the members in the society
• Developing and maintaining good working relations with other student societies.

Media & IT Officer
• Responsible for running the BBSS website. Maintaining and updating any information, current news and event of the society on the net.
• Writing and sending circulars to BBSS members

Sports Officer
• Responsible for the running of the society’s sport activities at any level, either internally or externally.

Event Coordinator
• Manages and organize any society events.
• Initiating and planning BBSS events, trips and gathering activities.

2nd Year Representative
• Assists the activities and answering enquiries related to 2nd Year students

atu sunyi!!!! i think i have to assign someone to be blog updater kali ah, baru begarak kali. So anyway, Easter Holiday ends for Aston and BCU today so kamu, have a great uni day tomorrow. Hehe. Exam inda lagi batah, start tah buat revision.

Wassup with Easter Vacation? On 22nd March, 10 BiBers left Birmingham for a 4-day holiday to Paris. Travelled to Paris using Eurostar Train, we stayed at Etap Hotel and visited most of Paris' important tourist attractions: Disneyland, Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Musee de Louvre, Stade de France, La Defense, Grand Palais, Notre Dame, Moulin Rouge and Sacre Coeur. Leave Paris on 26th March to London and stayed for a night at Doni's (his aunt) place before going back to Birmingham on Fri 28th. We had so much fun in Paris :)

Farewell Dinner for 2005 Bibers

Suggestion. Would the 2005 Bibers and those graduating this year like to have a farewell dinner in a restaurant together ? My treat (Limited to 2005 bibers and those graduating this year)! Alternatively, Solat Hajat for exams Syukur for His Grace and Isyak, on one of our usual Thurs gathering, again Im offering to foot the shopping bill for that farewell-hajat-kesyukuran event.
